Clay Handbuilding is an ancient pottery technique that involves creating forms using hands, fingers and simple tools. The 3 main techniques are coil pots, slab building and pinch pots. Using these simple methods opens up a whole world of exciting handbuilding projects and allows for your creativity to run wild. We run lots of sessions using these different technique during term time for adults, and in the school holidays for children.

Clay Handbuilding Classes

These projects are ideal for total beginners. Some sessions are clay making only and your work will be fired for you to return at a later date to decorate, and some sessions are make and paint your item in the same session. The prices are for the entire project and include the making session, materials, tuition, firing and decorating your work. We take a £6.00 deposit at the time of booking to secure your place.

​Family Play with Clay sessions

These sessions take place on select days and are suitable for the whole family. (Adults are welcome to come too, you don't need to have children with you) You will make the clay project and then paint it straight after - the whole thing in 1 session!

Minimum 4 people. Do you have a project you want to make in clay but can't make our session times? Grab a group of friends and we will run a session for you.
